I think there is probably a great source of 'war stories' for those of us on EV that those still awaiting the pleasure may find informative and/or amusing! So here is ours!
December 18th they wanted us to complete and they seemed very surprised that we said 'no'. We eventually spread it out until last week when three of us who are buying Alcor villas in Zafiro decided to give in and give EV their money.
I loved the'snagging' experience! We used Inspector Roy ( brilliant decision.. as they say in the East End he is a 'diamonnd geezer') and I would recommend him to anyone. When we were met by the Poloris rep to look over the villa and she saw Roy there, here face dropped: at that moment I knew it was a good move to use him!
Roy's take was that PW are getting their act together more than a few months ago. It's as if they know they can't get away with a lot of faults because we'll find them out and there was evidence that PW now do a few pre snagging inspections themselves. Our girl said she had seen our villa three times before to pick up on items that needed rectifying.
So on to the lawyers on the Friday in Torre Pacheco. I used to run a mortgage company so I was very aware of all the things that could go wrong and thought I had covered the bases.. how wrong can you be. 11am we are all there including the bank's lawyer. Everything but the money. Two hours later we found out the cheque had been COURIERED by bike to Cathegena by mistake ( they gave up completing by cheque in the UK twenty years ago. That's why we have Electronic transfers!). Our lawyer told us to go and have lunch. Fortunately there is a great Tapas bar across from the notary that I can recommend. Also a cigar shop on the corner to help fray your nerves while you are waiting.. until it becomes illegal.
We completed at 4-15pm after the cheque had finally arrived. A mere 5 hours plus after we arrived!
In the middle of all this our lawyer who was getting more and more annoyed suddenly started talking to the other guy in the waiting room. My Spanish is poor but apparently he was an Athletico Madrid soccer player buying on LT. I wondered why all the staff were peering round the door to stare!
But, we got the keys, everybody shook hands and that was it.. we owned a Spanish villa on El Valle at last. Then back to El Valle ( which was looking fantastic) and the keys actually opened the door!
Now all we need is water, gas, electricity and furniture!
